Compared with YouTube Premium, which now costs more than ever, this is a compelling free alternative.
There are caveats. Creators do not get ad revenue when you watch this way, which is an ethical consideration worth acknowledging. Some advanced YouTube features, like comment threading and live chat, are missing. And Google has signaled it may tighten API access in ways that could break the player.
